Yes, very "television" ... but I like how I can gradually introduce new elements...kinda like flipping channels
back and forth
Every channel has an image
me: Like, all of the sounds are from different sources...
Sexy Person: Ok
that's what I thought
me: there is a horror movie, then it switches to a variety show, then to an advertsiement, then to a violin solo,
Sexy Person: That's a lot of work
Impressive
me: very schizo!
Yes, well, the work is done in the preparation...just having all those stream in...
after that work is done, you can "perform" the sources like you do any other instrument
...improvised
Sexy Person: Gotcha....still...finding the sources...
Wasn't a lot of work....??
me: Heh. It was what I did INSTEAD of going to class all through my final semesters at MSU
haha
made these elaborate sample tapes
....like streams of culture.
I would play them through my machines in the studio.
me: You'd walk up into the studio and just faintly hear voices: conversations and screams, singing, violins...
all very faint...reverbed and echoing from some seemingly "distant" place. haha. Very surreal.
SP: So you went through all that today?
me: No no all that isnt really "music" ...I use the media stuff for making music tho. Its very cool, I'd put the videos on when friends were over just because it was wild to watch.
rapid fire second by second changes:
**Singing! Explosion! TV Weather! Toy Ad! Horror movie scene! guitarist!**
haha. Its kinda like having a schizophrenic with no attention span constantly holding the TV remote...just maniacally switching all over the place...more
